Boys Soccer Pre-Season Meeting Minutes 2009

Schedule
At the time of the Pre-season meeting WG Murdoch was unable to field a team due to player numbers, this leaves us with 6 teams. This means that we can go to a 6 team round robin league schedule. There will be 5 league games, the top 4 teams make playoffs and there will be 2 playoff games. With only 5 league games and the very wet spring we have decided to go to a 4 week schedule. The schedule has been redrafted so we have eliminated the April 28 & 30 dates, the first games will be May 5th.

 

Action:

Please check the new schedule, if there are any conflicts or problems please contact me ASAP. This will be the new schedule unless otherwise stated.

Bow Valley               – Mitford Pond

 

Cochrane                 - Mitford Pond

 

Bert Church               – East Lake Park

 

George McDougall     – Monklands Park west field

 

Springbank               – Springbank Park for All Seasons

 

Chestermere             –Chestermere High School

 

Divisionals

I will be talking to the Springbank team to discuss if Divisionals will be hosted at the Springbank Park for All Seasons or in Airdrie at the Monklands Soccer Park. We will make a decision and contact you prior to Divisionals.

 

Action:

If you have input or a preference as to where the Divisional Finals will be played please contact me.

 

League Fees
$180

 

Cancellation Procedure
If a game is going to be cancelled, try to do it by 2:00 pm. Collect coaches’ cell phone numbers at the meeting. Coaches are reminded to, if at all possible, play through the weather as there are no make up dates in the schedule.

 

 

Officials and Minor Officials

A referee will be assigned for each game by the RVS Soccer Director. If a referee is a no-show please begin the game by at least 4:35 PM as some players will need to attend another community game or practice the same night. Also these fields are shared with the community so there may be games that start at 6:30 PM on the same field. If the referee is a no show please indicate that on the game sheet when you fax it in.

 

It is the duty of the home team to provide two minor officials (Linesmen) for each game. Some teams have developed a practice of paying their minor officials $10.00-$15.00 for each game. Sometimes paying a minor official will provide motivation, we do need linesmen that know their duties and are active in performing their duties.

 

Awards
There are first, second and third place medallions as well as a banner and trophy. Cochrane High is reminded to bring the trophy to the Divisional Finals.

 

Code of Conduct

Players and coaches are to sign Code of Conduct forms (found at www.RockyViewSports.com) and submit them to their administrators.

 

Zone Tournament

The Zone tournament will be June 5th & 6th, the location TBA. As I get further information I will forward it to you.

 

Discipline Policy
Please review with coaches. I’ll email you a suspension letter just in case.

1.      Players/coaches ejected from a game due to unsportsmanlike and/or flagrant conduct or receiving one red card or two yellow cards in one game are automatically suspended for the next league or playoff game and receive a disciplinary letter from the commissioner, with copies sent to the coach, principal and sports coordinator.

2.      Players/coaches accumulating three or more penalty (yellow) cards during the season are suspended from the next league or play off game and receive a disciplinary letter from the commissioner, with copies sent to the coach, principal and sports coordinator.

3.      Players that receive two or more red cards in a season have their participation in the RVSA Soccer league reviewed by the commissioner, sports coordinator and RVSD superintendent designate.

Action:

Please send me your updated coaches name and their cell phone or contact information. This is important in the case of a rainout of a field closure.

 

Results or Problems on the Field

Email results to Barry and then Barry can email them to me to post online from home. I’ll update the standings from home as well. If there are any problems issues or if a referee is a no show please contact me. If there is a discipline issue or conflict that involves the Bert Church team then the issue will be directed to two neutral coaches for resolution so as to avoid any disagreement.
