High School Golf Post-season Meeting Minutes

2. Review of 2009-10 Tournament
   Coaches thought Wintergreen is a great course but it was too expensive, not playable enough for our students, and that they didn't seem all that accomodating. JM noted that results were rushed and mistakes made. Note to coaches to please let their students know that they will be there for up to an hour after play finishes. Coaches: Who has the Gr. 9 trophy?
   
   
3. Zones and Provincials
   Results: Bert Church came in 2nd and Cochrane in 3rd at Zones.
   
   
4. 2009-10 Commissioner
   Chestermere and Cochrane switched this year and next so it's Chestermere's turn. Rob will group foursomes next year, not Jacquie.
   
   
5. 2009-10 Tournament
   Would like to look at possiblilty of using the same course for a three-year period.
   
   Course criteria:
   -9:30 am start
   -shot gun format
   -under $50
   -food & beverages included
   -carts/ meals for coaches
   -free pull carts for all
   -access to practice area
   
   JM to look at Carstairs, Rob to look at Strathmore. (note that Strathmore will probably bid on Zones next year)>
   
   Update:
   Spoke with Cindy Toye from Carstairs on Oct. 26 (403-337-3382, tournaments@carstairsgolf.com)
   -can do a 9:30 am start
   -need 90 for a shot gun start
   -$40 (plus tax?) for junior green fee and meal
   -food & beverage included in the $40
   -coaches can golf for the junior green fee rate but will have to pay for carts ($32 per twosome)
   -coaches will have to pay for meal
   -pull carts are not included
   -access to chipping area and putting green (there is no driving range)
   -three-year deal would have to go through executive
   -Thursday, September 10 is open; the following week looks good as well.

   No motions put forth.
   
   
7. Out-of-pocket Expenses
   RVS policy states that out-of-pocket expense claims should be made within one month of the completion of the season. Action: Coaches are to submit claims in a timely manner.

   June 10, 2010

9. Scoring
   Remind coaches about scoring methodology at pre-season meeting.
   
   
10. Female Participation
    Gilles wondered about how to encourage girls to participate. Coaches agreed this has to be done at the school level.
