2. Commissioner
Thank you to Doug Jenson from Cochrane High who has volunteered to be commssioner this year.
3. Officials
Zone 2 with the CVOA is still vacant. Reminder: that there is a motion going to Parameters June 7 that states we'll book one official per match. Coaches agreed that this will be for league play only.
4. Rules and Regulations
The official ASAA ball is the Taichakara Gold.
5. Schedules
First, Beiseker may not be participating in our league next year. They'll let us know in June. Coaches reviewed three schedules: a regular one, one with girls travelling together and boys travelling together, and one with a boys double round robin. Note: Same genders travelling together need to be voted on at Parameters on June 7.
We concluded that that we don't have enough information to put a schedule together at this time. Action: JM to ask WG Murdoch and Beiseker to state their intentions at the Parameters meeting.
Motion: Tim Masse, George McDougall, moves that the junior and senior boys add one game against their geographic rival - i.e. Cochrane vs. Bow Valley, George McDougall vs. Bert Church, Chestermere vs. Springbank - with home and home series counting as one point each. Robyn Cumlin, Chestermere, seconds the motion.
Rationale: Boys get only five games during the season with long gaps because of bye weeks.
Coaches' Vote: 5 in favour, 1 abstained - motion carried
6. Divisional Championships
Chestermere is up in the Divisional host rotation.
Action: JM to book the Volleydome. Play-off schedule will change depending on whether or not Beiseker and Murdoch are in.
the group spent quite a bit of time trying to work out a double elimination play-off schedulel. The concern on the junior girls side was that if they lost one play-off game then they were done.
Motion: Mike Sera, Bert Church, moves that we change the single elimination divisional play-off tournament to a double elimination back-door format. Robyn Kumlin, Chestermere, second the motion.
Rationale: This format would give teams an opportunity for more play.
Coaches' Vote: 2 in favour, 4 against, 1 abstained - motion defeated
Action: Once all teams have declared, JM will work with Doug Jenson and come up with a schedule coaches can review before the end of the school year.
Reminder: Banners are for photo opp purposes only. They are not to be signed by the team as they need to be returned to the sports coordinator in June of each year.
7. League fees
To be deterimined once the number of teams, league and play-off formats are established.
8. Team Declaration
The ASAA registration deadline is October 1. You can submit your roster to me at the same time. Reminder: All teams register on ExNet regardless of whether or not they intend to compete at provincials.
9. Results
Coaches are to email results into the sports coordinator. Action: JM to ask Kristina Houle if she'll do stats again.
10. Code of Conduct
