Grade 6 Volleyball Rule Modifications

  1. Matches have a 30-minute time limit. Play the first two games rally point to 25 points. The winner does not have to win by two. If the 30 minutes expire before the second game is completed, teams are to finish the second game.
  2. Regulation balls are used.
  3. Underhand serves only.
  4. Rotate after three consecutive service points.
  5. The service line is marked (with tape) seven metres from the net.
  6. Serves may be returned with a bump or a face pass. Teams are encouraged not to receive the pass with a punching motion into the ball.
  7. No blocks on serve.
  8. Each team is allowed one 30-second time out per game.
  9. Substitutions are to be made into centre back position after the player has completed service, following the next rotation, unless permission is granted by the referee for special circumstances.
  10. The ball is to be rolled to the server with no interference by other players.
  11. Starting players are to line up on the end line before and after each game.
  12. Hand shakes between teams after each game are to take place in the open area between courts, to allow the next game to start.
  13. The server must wait for the whistle before serving. Teams are allowed one warning per game, after which a loss of serve results.
  14. Teams play two games up to 25 points. If time remains they may start a third game and play until the 30-minute time limit expires. If 30 minutes expires during the first two games, teams play until the second game is completed.
  15. Net height is the same as the Junior ‘B’ playing height:
    1. Girls - 2.08 m
    2. Boys - 2.08 m
  16. Jewellery, baseball caps and bandannas are not to be worn by participants.
