Because two host schools are not entering teams, it may be necessary to add two more host schools. Meadowbrook has offered to host East and Ralph McCall has offered to host East or West. Once all teams have declared, JM will look at our venue needs and confirm availability of Meadowbrook and Ralph McCall.

  1. Team declaration

Thursday, March 23 at 3:00 pm
Most teams were not ready to declare at the pre-season meeting so the deadline for declaring teams has been extended. ACTION: Schools are to email or phone JM by this date or they will not be able to enter teams.

  1. Schedule

Because of potential venue issues, release of the schedule may be delayed.
ACTION: JM to try to distribute a schedule Monday, March 27 or Tuesday, March 28.
Teams will play at least three games with the first game starting at 9:00 am. Each tournament will feature two courts.
Requests:

  1. Keep Ralph McCall boys together.
  2. If Ralph McCall hosts, put the boys there.
  3. Both Mitford and Banded Peak prefer to host boys (probably can’t grant both these requests).
  1. Hosting Responsibilities

Hosting Responsibilities (as found in the Middle School Policies section of the RVSA Handbook) was attached for review.
ACTION: JM to prepare a single document joining Hosting Responsibilities and Rule Modifications for next season. In the meantime, coaches are to refer to the two separate documents.

  1. Rule Modifications

A minor update was made to rule modifications.
ACTION: JM to update and circulate to coaches.
Two reminders about Grade 6 Basketball:

  1. The foul line is to be marked with tape four feet closer to the basket.
  2. Games consist of 12-minute halves.
  1. Code of Conduct

Athletes, parents and coaches must sign Code of Conduct forms before the first league game or they are not eligible to participate. Principals are to send their declarations to the sports coordinator prior to the start of league.

  1. League Fees

$40 per team

  1. Officials

There will be one official at each venue.
ACTION:  JM to book officials through the Calgary Basketball Officials Association.

  1. Ribbons

Schools that were present picked up ribbons. Ribbons will be sent, via Blue Box, to schools that weren’t at the meeting.
ACTION:  Schools are to email JM with the number of ribbons they require.

  1. Other
