Thank you to Lawrence for serving as commissioner this season.

  1. RVSA Handbook and Simplified Badminton Rules

            Reviewed rules. CLARIFICATION: For this year, grade 7s will play to 11 pts and grade    8s will play to 15 points and there will be no setting at either tournament.
     
MOTION: Wes Clark, from Meadowbrook, moved that we omit setting from the Simplified Badminton Rules for the East/West tournaments and the RVSA Divisional tournament. Trinity Paterson from Banded Peak seconded the motion.
VOTE: Motion passed: 7 in favour, 1 abstained

MOTION: Wes Clark, from Meadowbrook, moved that, if the registration motion passes through Parameters (limiting schools to two entries) that we extend grade 7 games to 15 points, meaning both grade 7 and 8 games would go to 15. Trinity Paterson from Banded Peak seconded the motion.
VOTE:  Motion passed: 8 in favour, 0 against

MOTION: Wes Clark, from Meadowbrook, moved that, if the same registration motion doesn’t pass through Parameters, that we limit grade 8 games to 11 points, meaning both grade 7 and 8 games would go to 11. Trinity Paterson from Banded Peak seconded the motion.
VOTE: Motion passed: 8 in favour, 0 against

    1. ACTION: Coaches are to submit, by email, their registration by Thursday, April 13.
    2. 3 entries/classification
    3. Will accept minor changes up until Wed, Apr. 26

MOTION: Marc Barber, Ecole Airdrie, moved that, given the growth of the Division and limited venues and coaches, we limit the number of entries to the East/West tournaments to two per classification instead of the currently allowed three. Brad Walls from Kathyrn seconded the motion.
Vote:  Motion passed: 5 in favour, 3 against, 1 abstained

UPDATE: Ecole Airdrie was added as a venue so some drawmasters were shifted to different venues. Westbrook is unable to be head drawmaster at Bearspaw for Divisional Championships so we are short a head drawmaster there and a co-drawmaster at Meadowbrook.

    1. East/West

ACTION: JM to send draw and results sheets to drawmasters in the Blue Box the week of Mon, April 24.
ACTION: Any changes to the draws that week will be emailed to drawmasters.

    1. Divisionals

            ACTION: JM to send draw and results sheets to drawmasters in the Blue Box the       week of May 8.

  1. League fees

      $65
     

  1. Awards
    1. Gold, silver and bronze medallions for all categories, as well as fourth-place ribbons for all categories.
    2. Division championship banner for highest aggregate total.

ACTION: JM to send medallions and ribbons to drawmasters in the Blue Box.

  1. Code of Conduct

Athletes, parents and coaches must sign Code of Conduct forms before the first tournament or they are not eligible to participate. Principals are to send their declarations to the sports coordinator prior to the start of the tournament.

  1. Supervision/Opening & Closing Gyms

ACTION: Cochrane drawmasters are to get in touch with Rob McNab (Cobras athletic director) regarding opening/closing the school and setting up the gym. JM to also follow up with Rob.
ACTION: JM to book community use supervisors for 7:30 am opening at Ecole Airdrie, Meadowbrook, Bearspaw, and Mitford.

  1. Dress Code

School colours or white t-shirts.

ACTION: JM to send out, in the Blue Box, four tubes to each venue.

  1. Results

ACTION: Drawmasters are to fax results to 219-6258 Monday morning, May 1.

  1. Drawmaster Checklists

Checklists were distributed at the meeting. ACTION: LL and JM to rework play-off section of the checklist to include all play-off scenarios. JM to send out revised Drawmaster Checklist in Blue Box.

  1. Players

A reminder that players who miss the check-in will not play. Also, games will not be moved up and players are not to ask for their games to be moved up.
