  2. Commissioner
Thank you Tim McLenahan for his work as volleyball commissioner.

  3. Schedule
    Comments regarding the schedule:
    a. Dana Armstrong (Bert Church) commented on how short the JV Boys season is. The group did not see how we could lengthen the season with our current format and suggested that junior teams augment their season through exhibition play.
    b. Coaches would like to double up all WG Murdoch and Beiseker games so that we have no single games.
    c. Coaches would like to see JV girls always playing first when doubling up with seniors in Beiseker and WG Murdoch.
    d. It was also requested that bye weeks be more evenly distributed throughout the schedule.

  4. Officials
JM regretted having to move Chestermere's varsity girls play-off game, depriving them of home court advantage. The move was a result of not being able to get officials out to Chestermere for a single game.

We paid more for JV officials as there is only supposed to be one official for junior varsity games but there were two at WG Murdoch.

  5. Statistics
Thank you to Doug Massig for doing stats again this year. Thanks to coaches for emailing both Doug and JM so the website could be updated in a timely manner.

  6. Divisional Championships
Thanks to Bert Church for hosting this year. Coaches agreed that the tournament was well done but thought that the host school is to provide linespeople for all matches. A suggestion was made that schools train six students at the beginning of the year and pay them to work all season. The cost could be covered by building it into team fees.

Coaches would like a list of hosting responsibilities for Divisional Championships. Action: JM to draft.

  7. Banquet
November 29, 6:30 at Bert Church. Please get numbers to Allen Gallup by Thursday, November 16.

  8. 2006-07 Season
For the 2006-07 season we need to schedule our matches keeping the following two points in mind: the difficulty of getting officials to WG Murdoch and Beiseker and the difficulty of getting officials during play-offs. Some suggestions were:
    a. To play the quarter finals on Wednesday, semis on Monday and then the finals on the following Wednesday.
    b. Determine first and second round play-off venues ahead of time - JV at one venue, Varsity at another or girls at one, boys at another.
Action: JM to bring forward to pre-season meeting in the spring. Coaches are to be prepared to decide on a plan that we can take to Parameters.

  9. Pre-season Meeting
May 29, 4:30 (Earlier than previous years so that motions can go to Parameters the following week)

  10. Other
    a. Coaches discussed the height of the JV Boys net. As per the RVSA Handbook, both JV and senior boys are to play at 2.43. Update: The South Central Zone Jr. High play-offs are played at 2.43.
    b. A follow up to the reminder issued to coaches that we use a standard ball, as mandated by the ASAA: Tachikara SV5W Gold-SWB.
    c. Coaches discussed the email that went out mid-season regarding junior varsity developmental games.
Motion: Gloria Hunter (Cochrane) moved that the clarification be put into the RVSA Handbook. Chris Lees (Cochrane) seconded the motion. Motion passed: 9 in favour, 1 against.
Action: JM to take the following to Parameters:
At the coaches' discretion, the following applies to developmental games:
    i. If there are less than 20 minutes before the start of the second match, there is no developmental game.
ii. If there are between 20 and 30 minutes before the start of the second match, one 15-point developmental game (no court change, cap at 15) may be played.
iii. If there are over 35 minutes before the start of the second match, one 25-point developmental game (no court change, cap at 25) may be played.
iv. There are developmental games in the second match.

  11. Awards
Award recipients were determined by those coaches present.
