JM presented the U of C option for the Divisional Championship tournament on May 12. We can run 10 courts in the Red Gym and there is a spectator area. We'll rent the gym from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. The rate is $40 per hour plus tax. With 14 schools participating this will increase plug-in fees by $30.

Coaches agreed that we'd like to try the venue, see how it works, and possibly look at moving the East/West tournament there as well next year. The benefits of a central venue is that we'll need fewer coaches, fewer drawmasters and no sports (community use) supervisors. There will be a charge for parking but there is lots of it and the charge is minimal on the weekend. If we like U of C, there is a potential for 16 courts in total but we would have to change the date of our East/West tournament as our date, April 28, will always be used for exams.

Action: JM to get approval from principals for changing the venue to U of C as this change affects plug-in fees.
Action: JM to look at the East venues and see if we can obtain larger gyms therefore decreasing the number of venues on the east side.
Update: Eastlake Recreation Centre, George McDougall and Bert Church are not available on April 28.

7. Draw and Results Sheets
All draw sheets will be sent by email on Thursday, April 26 and Thursday, May 10. It will be the drawmaster's responsibility to print off these sheets. JM will also send out results sheets that are to be filled out and emailed back to Jacquie on the Monday following the tournament.

8. League Fees
$95 (plus U of C rental would be about $105)

9. Awards
There are gold silver and bronze medallions as well as fourth-place ribbons for all categories. A divisional championship banner is awarded to the school with highest aggregate total.
Action: JM to send medallions, ribbons and the banner to Lawrence Lee who will take them to U of C.
Note: No awards are handed out on April 28.

10. Code of Conduct
Action: Athletes, parents and coaches must sign Code of Conduct forms before the first tournament or they are not eligible to participate. Principals are to send their declarations to the sports coordinator prior to the tournament.

11. Supervision
Action: JM to book sports supervisors to start at 8:00 am for alll venues. If we go with several venues in Airdire, I'll be short supervisors.

12. Dress Code
School colours or white t-shirts.
Action: Please remind your students that sweatpants and bandanas are not allowed. Water is not allowed on the court.

13. Shuttles
Yellow Yonex Mavis 300
Action: JM to order 26 tubes and send them to the ADs of the host school.

14. Drawmaster Checklists
The Drawmaster Checklist, Badminton Draw Templates and Record Sheets can be printed off the web. It is the drawmaster's reponsibility to print off a copy of the checklist and draw templates and several copies of each record sheet.

15. Play-offs
In order to avoid tie-breakers, JM to create four pools of six players instead of three pools of eight players.
