- RVSA Handbook and Rule Modifications
The RVSA Volleyball Handbook, Jr. A Rule Modifications and Jr. B Rule Modifications are online.
The group reviewed the new league format for Jr. A:
- First tournament is a seeding tournament based on school population. A population of greater than 200 grade 7 and 8 students competes at one tournament; a population of less than 200 grade 7 and 8 students competes in another.
- Commissioner and sports coordinator then divide the teams into tiers based on seeding tournament records.
- Teams can apply in writing to move up or down in tiers after this first tournament only. There is no movement in tiers after the second and third tournaments.
- Reminder: Coaches are reminded of General League rule number 2 which states: "Schools attending all tournaments are to provide one person to help score keep if need."

- Schedules
The Jr. A Girls, Jr. A Boys and Jr. B venues have been determined. Action: JM to draft Jr. A seeding tournament schedules and post.
Teams will play at least three three matches at all tournaments. Matches are played to the best-of-three games with the third game played to 15. Clarification: For the seeding tournament only the third game is going to be capped at 17 points. The remaining third games will have no points cap.
- Results
There will be a results template that can be downloaded from www.rockyviewsports.com. Action: The host school is to fill out a results template and email to Jacquie and Lawrence. Results will be posted on www.rockyviewsports.com. No records are kept for Jr. B.
- Officials
Officials will be booked by the sports coordinator. Jr. A referees are harder to find that Jr. B so if coaches know anyone who can help out, please ask them to contact JM. Carded refs are preferred and we pay $25 per game, a competitive rate. The group suggested we contact the CVOA for help. Update: JM talked to Derrick Courtney about middle school refs and he can't help us. Another suggestion was to contact the University of Calgary Phys. Ed. Dept. to see if any students can help out. Action: JM to follow up.
- Supervision and Hosting Responsibilities
Hosting Responsibilites are online. The goal this year is 100% supervision of all Rocky View Sports middle school events. To that end we've increased the rate of pay to $14 per hour, advertised to fill positions and will provide orientation and training. The group discussed the primary host and secondary host concept passed at Parameters for basketball and agreed this would be a good thing to do for volleyball as well. Secondary hosts are there to assist the primary host and provide extra supervision in the gym. Action: JM to designate secondary hosts for tournaments.
- League Fees
Jr. A $220 per team
Jr. B $160 per team
- Code of Conduct
ACTION: The Code of Conduct Form for Players and the Code of Conduct Form for Coaches are to be signed and submitted to your administrator by Friday, October 27.
- Next meeting
The post-season meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, December 5.
- Other
Talked about the RVSA Bursary Fund for NCCP Certification. The RVSA would like to set up a coaching clinic for Rocky View coaches and the group agreed that Level I would be good for now. Action: JM to see if a coaching clinic can be organized prior to the season.
