2. Commissioner
Thank you to Carol Byler for acting as badminton commissioner this year. Carol is an assistant coach at Cochrane High and has many years of badminton experience.

3. Tournament Dates
Divisionals - Sat., Apr. 19
Jr. High Zones - Sat, May 3 at Foothills
Sr. High Zones - Sat., Apr. 26 at Three Hills
Provincials - Fri. and Sat., May 2 and 3 at Cochrane

4. Registration
Deadline is: Wednesday, April 16 at noon
Registration forms can be downloaded here.

5. Classifications and Categories
Juvenile - Grade 9 - three teams in each category (singles, doubles, mixed)
Junior - Under 16 as of Sep. 1, 2007 - two teams in each category
Intermediate - Under 17 as of Sep. 1, 2007 - two teams in each category
Senior - Under 19 as of Sep. 1, 2007 - two teams in each category
* Note that Junior and Intermediate athletes can play up, Juvenile cannot.

6. Simplified Badminton Rules
Reviewed Simplified Badminton Rally Points Scoring document prepared by Carol Byler. Carol is available to answer rule questions and also offered to attend school practices. She can be reached by email at: cbyler@xplornet.com Action: JM and CB to update Simplified Badminton Rules that are posted on the web.
Note: During this transition to rally point scoring, teams are to help each other out, especially when it come to doubles serving.

7. RVSA Handbook
Action: JM to update Drawmaster Checklist and post on the web.

8. Venues and Drawmasters
Action: JM to contact middle school athletic directors regarding setting up the nets, drawmaster tables and on-deck benches.

Draws will be emailed to drawmasters Friday morning. Blank Badminton Draw Templates are on the web.

Update: JM contacted the University of Calgary about renting their Red and Gold gyms April 19 but, because of exams, they are not available. I've also got a call in to St. Martin de Porres in Airdrie. If it's available then, depending on the number of courts, we'll drop WG Murdoch and Meadowbrook.

9. League Fees
$2.00 per competitor. Note that fee may increase to cover the cost of renting St. Martin de Porres.

10. Awards
First, second and third-place medallions for all categories. Action: JM to Blue Box to drawmasters, who will take them to venue.
Divisional Championship banner for highest aggregate total. Will have to be Blue Boxed out the week after the tournament.

11. Code of Conduct
Action: Athletes, parents and coaches must sign Code of Conduct forms before the first league game or they are not eligible to participate. Principals are to send their declarations to the sports coordinator prior to the tournament.

12. Supervision
Action: JM to book community use (sports) supervisors for middle/elementary schools, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

13. Dress Code
School colours or white t-shirts and black shorts. Please remind your athletes that sleeveless tops, hats and bandanas are not permitted.

14. Shuttles
Yellow Yonex Mavis 300
Action: JM to order 26 tubes, to be distributed to drawmasters.

15. Out-of-pocket Expenses
Expenses are covered for teacher and community coaches. Forms can be downloaded from the Coaches' Corner section of the website.

16. Results
All results are to go to George McDougall at the end of the day.

17. Zones
The top two teams/competitors go to the Zone championships. Action: JM to register Rocky View teams.

18. Cochrane High Mini Tournament
Cochrane is hosting a mini tournament on Saturday, April 5 at 1:00 pm. Contact Jason Crawford if you're interested in participating.

Note that the ASAA recommends protective eyewear.
