Commissioner duties were outlined and volunteers solicited. JM will follow up with possible candidates.
3. RVSA Handbook
Reviewed and slightly amended the following motion (put forward at the post-season meeting) to go to Parameters on Tuesday:
Motion 13: Gloria Hunter (Cochrane) moved that the following clarification be put into the RVSA Handbook. Chris Lees (Cochrane) seconded the motion.
“At the coaches' discretion, the following applies to junior varsity developmental games:
i. If there are less than 20 minutes before the start of the second match, there is no developmental game.
ii. If there are between 20 and 30 minutes before the start of the second match, one 15-point developmental game (no court change, cap at 15) may be played.
iii. If there are over 35 minutes before the start of the second match, one 25-point developmental game (no court change, cap at 25) may be played.
iv. There are developmental games in the second match.”
Rationale: Handbook doesn’t currently address this.
Coaches’ Vote: Motion passed: 9 in favour, 1 against
4. Schedules
Schedules were circulated. They were drafted with the following parameters (as outlined at the post-season meeting):
-Double up WG Murdoch and Beiseker games
-JV Girls always playing first when doubled up at WG Murdoch and Beiseker
-More evenly distribute bye weeks (for boys) throughout the schedule
-Home and away flipped
Action: JM to even out home and away JV and varsity girls games for Chestermere, George McDougall, WG Murdoch and Beiseker.

5. Divisional Championships
In order to give ourselves the best chance of getting play-off officals, we changed the days of quarter, semi and final games to the following:
Quarters - Wednesday, October 29 at higher seed
Semis - Monday, November 5
at higher seed
Finals - Wednesday, November 7 - Girls at Bow Valley and Boys at Chestermere
Plan B if these dates don't work is to play October 29, October 31 and November 5.
Reminder that host schools are to provide linespeople for all matches. Action: Tim Masse and JM to draw up a list of responsibilities for hosting Divisionals.

8. Officials
No new rule changes to report at this time. Also no word on if there will be an increase to CVOA's rates.
9. League fees
Last season was the first year each category had their own plug-in fee so this year some adjustments need to be made. Assuming there is no CVOA rate increase, plug in fees will be:
JV Girls $300 (increased $40)
JV Boys $275 (decreased $10)
Varsity Girls $465 (increased $40)
Varsity Boys $375 (increased $25)
10. Team Declaration
At this time neither Beiseker nor WG Murdoch anticipate entering boys teams so the league will most likely look much the same as it did last season.
Note: The ASAA registration deadline has been moved up to October 1. You can submit your roster to me at the same time. Also new for the ASAA next season is the requirment that all teams register on ExNet regardless of whether or not they intend to compete at provincials.
11. Scoring and Results
Thank you to Doug Massig for agreeing to do stats again this year. Host school coaches are to immediately email match scores to both Doug and I.
12. Code of Conduct
Athletes, parents and coaches must sign Code of Conduct forms before the first league game or they are not eligible to participate. Principals are to send their declarations to the sports coordinator prior to the first league game.
13. Awards
The group discussed awards, specifically all-stars, reviewed the process for choosing recipients and reiterated how important it is for coaches to attend the post-season meeting so they can speak for their players.
Motion: Tim McLenahan (Bow Valley) moved that, if there are eight or more teams in a category, that we increase the number of all-stars to 12, with the understanding that all teams whose coaches or representatives attend the post-season meeting are awarded an all-star. This is to be assessed annually, depending on the number of teams in the league. Fran Hagel (Beiseker) seconded the motion.
Rationale: There are currently eight girls teams and only 10 all-star awarded (compared to six boys teams with the same number of all-stars). This motion would give coaches more flexibility when recognizing players from all teams, regardless of their finish in regular season standings.
Coaches’ Vote: Motion unanimously passed: 14 in favour
14. Banquet
Originally propsed Tuesday, Decembr 4 but that conflicts with the opening of basketball season. New proposed date: Monday, December 3
Hosted by Bow Valley
15. Post-season Meeting
