Football Pre-season Meeting Minutes

2. Commissioner
   Steve Repic has agreed to work as commissioner again this year. Thanks, Steve.
   
   
3. CFOA
   Rules Forums until the end of May. Action: JM to check for rule changes in June.
   
   CFOA fees will increase from $36 per game to $38 per game, regardless if it's a single or double-header.
   
   Two reminders from last year:
   -It is important that our scorekeepers are able to get the correct information from officials at the time of a penalty. Officials and coaches should only sign game sheets if they are filled out completely and accurately.
   - Complaints are to go to the sports coordinator and football commissioner, not directly to the CFOA.
   
   
4. Tier Designation
   Tier 2 - Chestermere, George McDougall, Bow Valley
   Tier 3 - Bert Church, Cochrane, Springbank
   
   
5. Schedule
   The group reviewed the schedule and finalized. Action: JM to send to CFOA and post on website.
   
   
6. Divisional Championship
   The league championship is awarded based on standings after the regular season. Ties are broken according to the head-to-head result. Coaches decided to present medallions and the trophy at the banquet.
   
   
7. Provincial Championships
   Rocky View will host the regional qualifier against Foothills. Time and date TBD.
   
   
8. Fields
   East Lake field will be the home field for both Bert Church and George McDougall. Action: Steve to look into change facilities and porta-potties. Irrigation at Bow Valley will be another year.
   
   
9. Dino Sports Therapy
   Have not heard of any increase in fee for physio but hopefully they've got their personnel issues sorted out and we'll get better coverage.
   
   
10. Football Alberta
    Different system this year. $125 per team plus GST (increase of $25 over last year). Coaches should have received a password. Insurance is $15 per player. Coaches informed me they don't purchase extra insurance from Football Albeta. Action: JM to pay Football Alberta with one cheque for all teams.
    
    
11. League Fees
    Will increase due to extra regular season game, increase in Football Alberta membership fee, increase in CFOA rates and increase in commissioner honorarium. $1700 per team.
    
    
12. Rosters
    Action: Teams are to submit rosters by Wednesday, September 3.
    
    
13. Code of Conduct
    Action: Players and coaches are to sign Code of Conduct forms and submit to school administrator by Wednesday, September 3.
    
    
14. Results
    Verne Friesen has agreed to do stats for us again. Thank you, Verne. Game sheets are to be faxed to sports coordinator (945-4111) and Verne (932-5133). Please email score to me as soon as you can so I can post it on the web.
    
    
15. Banquet

16. Awards
    Reviewed awards and procees.
    All awards will be determined at the post-season meeting. JM will send a template to coaches on which they can make notes in preparation for the meeting. It is critical you send a representative to this meeting.
    Allocation is as follows:
    1st Place - 8; 2nd Place - 6; 3rd Place - 5; 4th Place - 4; 5th Place - 3; 6th Place - 2
    The group discussed Coaching Staff of the Year Award criteria. Action: Coaches are to send input to JM, who will then circulate among the group. Please do this by the end of the school year so, if necessary, we can have something in place by next season.

    The RVSA is developing a multi-media coaching library. If you can recommend any football resources (DVDs, training manuals, etc.) that you think may benefit coaches, please forward the information to me and I'll follow up with the purchase.
