2. Commissioner
Thank you very much to Mike Bishop from Cochrane High for serving as commissioner last year. We wish Mike the best of luck as he and his wife add twins to their family..

Commissioner duties were outlined and volunteers solicited. JM will follow up with possible candidates.

3. RVSA Handbook
Our handbook states that "all games are played according to the rules of Volleyball Canada" so when reviewing the net height of JV Boys volleyball, coaches are reminded to lower the nets to 2.35 m. The South Central Zone has recognized that JV boys should be playing at this height by voting in Chelsea Sommerville's motion at the spring AGM earlier this month.
Action: JM to make sure CVOA is aware of this.

4. Schedules
You can access schedules by clicking on the following:
JV Girls
JV Boys
Varsity Girls
Varsity Boys
The schedules reflect flipped home and home, games cycled down through dates and boys and girls start times switched half-way throught the season. Action: JM to post final drafts after Parameters meeting (June 3).

While Mike Grouette, from Bert Church, was unable to attend the meeting, Jacquie read to the group his email expressing his desire to have the JV boys play the same night as the senior boys as well as having the girls play together. Coaches discussed the idea but are unwilling to change the schedule format at this time.

5. Divisional Championships
George McDougall is up in the Divisional host rotation. If the following motions are defeated at Parameters then play-offs will go Monday, Nov. 3, Wednesday, Nov. 5 and Friday, Nov. 7.

Motion: Chelsea Sommerville, George McDougall, moves that we drop the JV boys and girls bronze medal matches. Jason Crellin, Springbank, seconds the motion.
Rationale: Teams don't really like playing these matches and if the new Divisional championship format (see below) is approved then there won't be time to play these two matches.
Vote: 6 in favour, 1 against (7 senior coaches abstained)

Motion: Chelsea Sommerville, George McDougall, moves that we play all Divisional quarter finals in one location Friday afternoon and evening and all Divisional semis and finals in one location on Saturday. Tracey Demeo, Bow Valley, seconds the motion.
Rationale: Coaches would like to build some excitement and fan base by having play-offs start Friday afternoon and holding all games at one venue. Furthermore, keeping the games to one venue makes for better coverage from officials.
Vote: 11 in favour, 0 against, 3 abstained

6. Officials
Note to coaches: Host schools have to inform Jacquie if we don't get the required officials so that I can adjust our bill accordingly.
Action: Host schools to include a quick report on the number of officials when they report scores.

Reminder that host schools are to provide linespeople for all matches.

There seems to be a new CVOA assignor so when I get that information (as well as any rate increase) I'll pass it along.
