    Here is the preliminary picture for Jr. A seeding tournaments, according to school size:

    Switching Tiers

    School athletic directors may apply in writing to move up or down in tiers after the seeding tournament only. Applications from coaches will not be received - they must come from the AD.

    Action: Coaches are to declare Jr. B teams (maximum of two girls teams and two boys teams per school) by Friday, March 6.

  4. Schedules

    Reviewed venues. Coaches are reminded that seeding tournaments will be long tournaments as all teams need to be at the same venue.

    Action: Because seeding tournaments feature so many games, JM will ask permission from middle school principals to start this tournament early. If permission is not granted then coaches agreed to reduce the number of games to two (from three) in order to 1) avoid going cross-court and 2) finish at a reasonable hour.

  5. Results
    Coaches are to email or fax scores to sports coordinator and commissioner immediately following the tournament. Host schools hang on to score sheets until the completion of the season.

  6. Officials
    Action: Sports coordinator to book officials – Jr. A (two per game) and B (one per game) – through the Calgary Basketball Officials Association. Our contact at the CBOA is John Weiland at makethecall@shaw.ca.
    Report any problems, lates or no-shows to sports coordinator.

    Update: Jordan has reviewed the Jr. A Rule Modifications (click here to download) and they are okay. For more detailed updates to FIBA rules, coaches can check out the following PowerPoint presentation.

  7. Supervision
    Coaches are reminded that, in addition to supervising their own team, they are asked to be actively supervising all kids at the gym. Report any behaviour issues to the sports supervisor and the host school supervisor.

  8. Host Reimbursement
    A hosting budget of $225 per tournament has been incorporated into middle school plug-in fees to cover the cost of the volunteer room, a half-day sub, scorekeeper honoraria and wear-and-tear on equipment. Download a form here.
    Note: Chris Holteen, Chestermere Lake, commented on the positive effective this initiative has had so far this season.

  10. Code of Conduct
    ACTION: The Code of Conduct Form for Players and the Code of Conduct Form for Coaches are to be signed and submitted to your administrator by Thursday, February 5.

  12. Athletic Travel Form
    This is a new form and can be accessed by clicking on this link.

  13. Next meeting
    As per Parameters, there is no specific post-season volleyball meeting. Coaches are asked to note comments and bring them to the general post-season sports meeting on Tuesday, May 5.
