Badminton Pre-season Meeting Minutes

2. Commissioner
Thanks to Lawrence Lee for serving as commissioner again this season.

3. RVSA Handbook and Simplified Badminton Rules
Games are rally point to 17. Must win by two but capped at 22..

In order to avoid tie-breakers, Jacquie will create an even number of pools.  Play-off procedures are as follows:
Top four teams dvance to the playoff round.  If there are four pools, the top player from each pool advances.  If there are two pools, then the top two players from each pool advances.
The next round consists of one game (to 17 points, win by 2, capped at 22) to determine first, second, third, and fourth seeding. 
Once players are ranked 1 through 4, competitors will play best-of-three matches (again to 17 points, win by 2, capped at 22) with the following format: 1 vs. 2 (for gold/silver) and 3 vs. 4 (for bronze/4th place)

4. Registration
Action: Coaches are to submit, via email, registration by Wednesday, May 12. Registration forms can be downloaded from the web. Note: Any questions with the new registration form, just drop me a line.
Schools are allowed two entries per classification. Students can play in only one category.

7. Draw and Results Sheets
All draw sheets will be sent by email on Friday, May 14. It will be the drawmaster's responsibility to print off these sheets. JM will also send out results sheets that are to be filled out and emailed back to Jacquie on the Monday following the tournament.

8. League Fees
$2.00 per player

9. Awards
There are gold silver and bronze medallions as well as fourth-place ribbons for all categories. Divisional championship banners (Tier 1 and Tier 2) are awarded to the school with highest aggregate total.
Action: JM to send medallions and ribbons to drawmasters. Banners will be sent in the blue box.

10. Code of Conduct
Action: Athletes, parents and coaches must sign Code of Conduct forms before the first tournament or they are not eligible to participate. Principals are to send their declarations to the sports coordinator prior to the tournament.

11. Hosting
Host schools will receive $250 to reimburse for a half-day sub and food for coaches throughout the day. We will also try to line up sport supervisors.

12. Dress Code
School colours or white t-shirts. Solid shorts.
Action: Please remind your students that sweatpants and bandanas are not allowed. Water is not allowed on the court.

13. Shuttles

Action: JM to order 26 tubes and send them to the drawmasters.

14. Drawmaster Checklists
The Drawmaster Checklist, Badminton Draw Templates and Record Sheets can be printed off the web. It is the drawmaster's reponsibility to print off a copy of the checklist and draw templates and several copies of each record sheet.

15. Reminder
Please remind your kids to bring a lunch as they cannot leave the venue throughout the day.
