Thank you to Brian for working as commissioner for a second straight year. Please note that Brian is taking a year off from coaching football and Steve is taking over as head coach.
- CFOA
Thank you to Grant Schmick for attending the meeting. Grant reviewed our schedule and gave us input into getting optimal coverage. He also sent through 2010-11 Tackle Rule Changes (click for link).
Update: Upon Grant's request, t he CFOA treasurer sent the following:
The CFOA would like to confirm the rate of $40 per official the 2010 season.
Note that the fee for Exhibition games will be $45 per official and these
are to be collected by the Head referee in the form of a cheque from the individual teams at the game itself.
Three other things:
-
Starting in September, teams will be limited to booking officials for two exhibition games.
-Tinted visors require a specialist's note.
- We can schedule games at 4:30 in the later part of the season.
- Tier Designation
Tier 2 - Chestermere, George McDougall, Bert Church, Springbank
Tier 3 - Cochrane, Bow Valley
- Schedule
The group reviewed but failed to finalize a schedule.Action: JM to re-do schedule with the following parameters:
1. Bert Church will play Cochrane twice and forego their home and home with Bert Church.
2.
The schedule will include a first-week exhibition game between Bert Church and George McDougall.
3. Bow Valley will play George McDougall twice.
4. Chestermere will play Springbank twice.
5. Most teams prefer to play Friday nights. Cochrane is the exception but it is the host school's choice.
6. Cochrane is not available to play Fri or Sat, Sep 10 or 11
7. Update: Bow Valley is now not available to play to that weekend either.
8. No games are to be scheduled the Friday before Thanksgiving. Thursday is okay.
- Divisional Championship
Tier 2 and Tier 3 championships will be awarded.
- Provincial Championships
Rocky View will host the Tier 2 regional qualifier.
- Fields
East Lake field will be the home field for both Bert Church and George McDougall.
- Dino Sports Therapy
Have not heard of any increase in fee for physio but hopefully they've got their personnel issues sorted out and we'll get better coverage.
- Football Alberta
Action: JM to pay Football Alberta with one cheque for all teams.
- League Fees
$1,750 for the 2010-11 season.
All schools were overcharged due to a mistake on my end. I proposed that the RVSA rebates each school $1,000 and coaches accepted this. Action: JM to issue cheques attention to each coach; Chestermere's to be payable to Chestermere Athletics, Springbank's is to be sent to Eddie Polhill.
- Rosters
Action: Teams are to submit rosters by Wednesday, September 1.
- Code of Conduct
Action: Players and coaches are to sign Code of Conduct forms
and submit to school administrator by Wednesday, September 1.
- Results
RVSA is going to a web-based scoring system for basketball and may look at it for all sports. Regardless, in order to stay on top of discipline, home teams are to fax score sheets to Jacquie at 403-945-4011.

Regarding medallions, the handbook states that the division currently covers the cost of 50 medals per team.
Motion: Brian Utley (Chestermere) moves that we increase the number of medals to 60 per team. Scott Allard (Bow Valley) seconds the motion.
Rationale: 50 is not sufficient for at least two teams in the league.
Vote: 6 in favour, 0 against. Unanimously passed.

Bring forward: Andy Kirk mentioned that we need to establish, before the meeting, whether or not players who have been suspended be eligible for a major award.
