Golf Pre-season Meeting Minutes

June 10, 2010

2. Commissioner
Thanks to Rob Wilson (Chestermere) for serving as commissioner this season.

3. Divisional Championships
Monday, September 13
Strathmore Golf Club
9:00 am, shot gun start
Fee: $52.00, includes one coach for free including meal and golf carts. Additional coaches are 40.00. Additional meals are 15.00. The cost per person includes burger buffet, fountain pop and driving range.
Cheques are payable to Chestermere Athletics.

Registration deadline: Thursday, September 9, 4:00 pm sharp. Please send registration to Rob Wilson. Download a registration form here. Form includes the following information:

  • Number of female junior high school golfers, their full name and their handicap, to a maximum of 3 players.
  • Number of female high school golfers, their full name and their handicap, to a maximum of 5 players.
  • Number of male junior high school golfers, their full name and their handicap, to a maximum of 3 players.
  • Number of male high school golfers, their full name and their handicap, to a maximum of 5 players.
  • Number of adult golfers and their full names.

    Note the following from our handbook: Athletes must have an 18-hole qualifying round score of, at the most, 125 for boys and 150 for girls in order to compete at the Divisional Championship tournament.

    Also note that Langdon, Chestermere Lake and Prince of Peace all have gr. 9s now and will be invited to participate in the tournament. Rob is also going to invite Strathmore and Brooks in order meet required numbers for a shotgun start.

Fee: $52.00, includes one coach for free including meal and golf carts. Additional coaches are 40.00. Additional meals are 15.00

5. Provincial Championships
September 27 & 28
Hosted by Olds, not sure at what courses
Note: The ASAA registration deadline is September 12.

6. Substitutes
The Division will cover the cost of one full-day sub per school. The sub code is: 1-230-300-000-47

7. League fees
The plug-in fee is $15 per school. This is in addition to the tournament entry fee paid to the host.

8. Rules Committee
A rules committee, made up of at least three coaches (Rob Wilson, Ioan Matthews and Mike Sera) was struck to deal with any contentious issues.

9. Code of Conduct
Athletes, parents and coaches must sign Code of Conduct forms before the first league game or they are not eligible to participate. Principals are to send their declarations to the sports coordinator prior to the first league game.

10. Awards
Medallions and trophies will be awarded at the end of the tournament. Defending champions are to bring trophies. Note: The current banner program is being dismantled. Schools will use a generic golf banner for photo ops only.

11. Scoring
IReminder:
a. Players write scores down immediately after the round instead of waiting until they get to the clubhouse.
b. Upon completion of each hole, all players score all players with one person being the attester and submitting the official score card.
c. A team consists of five players. They all golf. Att the end of the round, throw a scorecard out and then take the top three scores on each hole, regardless of golfer.
