Golf Pre-season Meeting Minutes

2. Commissioner
Thanks to Ken Payne, George McDougall, for serving as commissioner this season.
3. Divisional Championships
Wednesday, September 14
Strathmore Golf Club
9:00 am, shot gun start
Fee: $52.00, includes one coach for free including meal and golf carts. Additional coaches are $52.00. The cost per person includes burger buffet, fountain pop and driving range.
Cheques are payable to George McDougall High School. Note: Strathmere has limited rickshaws . Action: JM to send dinner tickets to Ken.

Reminder: As per Parameters vote, unless the Zone tournament is on the same day, schools that intend to compete at Zones are required to play at the divisional tournament.
Note the following from our handbook: Both boys and girls must have an 18-hole qualifying round score of, at the most, 125 to compete at the Divisional Championship tournament.
Also note that Langdon, Chestermere Lake and Prince of Peace all have gr. 9s and have been invited to participate in the tournament. Prince of Peace will not be participating.

5. Provincial Championships
September 26 & 27
Hosted by New Sarepta, NC Zone (near Leduc)
Note: The ASAA registration deadline is September 12.
6. Substitutes
The Division will cover the cost of one full-day sub per school for the divisional tournament only . The sub code is: 1-230-300-000-47
7. League fees
The plug-in fee is $10 per school. This is in addition to the tournament entry fee paid to the host.
8. Rules Committee
A rules committee, made up of at least three coaches (Mike Sera, Ken Payne and Rob Wilson) was struck to deal with any contentious issues.
9. Code of Conduct
Athletes, parents and coaches must sign Code of Conduct forms before the first league game or they are not eligible to participate. Principals are to send their declarations to the sports coordinator prior to the first league game.
10. Respect in Sport
Coaches are also reminded that completion of the Respect in Sport program is mandatory and must be completed by the start of your season.This applies to teacher and community coaches. Thank you for your compliance.
11. Awards
Medallions and trophies will be awarded at the end of the tournament. Defending champions are to bring trophies to the tournament. Note: The banner is to be returned to the sports office at the end of the school year.
12. Scoring
Reminders:
-Coaches declare a team of four grade 9 athletes, then take the best two of three scores on each hole.
-Players write scores down immediately after the round instead of waiting until they get to the clubhouse.
-Upon completion of each hole, all players score all players with one person being the attester and submitting the official score card.
-A team consists of five players. They all golf. At the end of the round, throw a scorecard out and then take the top three scores on each hole, regardless of golfer.

13. Other
Bring forward: Lowering qualifying scores even further.
14. Motion
Mike Sera, Bert Church, moves that we register teams of five grade 9s, taking the best three scores on each hole. Ken Payne, George McDougall, seconds the motion.
Rationale: This will make registration at the gr. 9 level consistent with that at the high school level.
Vote: 5 in favour, 0 against. Motion unanimously passed.
